This Thursday, 22nd September would see GE South Asia’s  first ever Predix meet called “Predix the Future”. Predix is GE’s platform for the Industrial Internet. It is purpose-built platform-as-a-service (PaaS) for developing, deploying, operating and monetizing Industrial Internet applications.

The meet would be held at GE’s largest Research & Development facility – John F. Welch Technology Centre in Whitefield Bangalore. This event aims to have renowned industry thought leaders share their experience on the country’s needs to leverage the power of digital & analytics to drive better business outcomes.

I am planning to attend the event, with the focus on Digital Health and how IoT can help us deliver clinical outcomes, increase access and reduce the cost of care for 1.3 billion people.

GE is one of the shining examples of a traditional company that has undertaken digital transformation keeping its unique heritage and structure in mind. It has shown the way to other traditional enterprises waiting to adopt digital. With Predix, GE has entered the fast growing IoT Platform segment. With Predix platform, hospitals can now connect physicians, EMRs and devices to share data and provide clinical insights that would go into better decision making. Many of the aspects of how IoT can help the India in healthcare has been covered in a piece that I wrote in June 2016, titled “Why IoT makes sense for Healthcare in India”

My expectations from Predix the future is to see use cases of how hospitals can use the Predix platform to improve quality of care. I am very curious on the pricing and the infrastructure required for employing these in the Indian set up and finally what kind of expertise is required to keep running these systems.

More on this after the event.
